Food! What would a baby shower be without food? Or any party for that matter. At the center of all of that goodness is a baby shower cake. Here, you will find some great recipes and ideas for feeding a crowd as well as some of the cutest cake ideas.

Baby Shower Cakes

No, not diaper cakes silly! The kind you eat. I ran across this coolest cakes site just a few days ago. While it has all sorts of birthday cake pictures from readers like you, it has baby shower cakes as well. What a great resource to get some ideas.

Make it Yourself Cake Ideas

Wilton is the pinnacle of cake baking and decoration. The have a page slammed full of baby shower cake, cupcake and cookie ideas from ducks to buggies to bears and so much more. Check it out for some great ideas.

Sheet Cakes

A very simple sheet cake can be dressed up with frosting to make it look like baby blocks, add hard sugar decorations or non toxic plastic decorations. This is a quick and simple solution to your cake dilemma.

Rattle Cake

The rattle cake is probably one of the easiest cakes to make and decorate. You would bake 2 round cakes and place them on a board or baking sheet that they will fit on leaving a small space in between. Place a paper towel roll cut in half or another safe cylindrical item in between. Frost over everything and decorate. Don't eat the paper towel roll though!

Finger Sandwiches

Finger sandwiches are great for baby showers. You can make them as simple as you want or dress them up for an extravagant display. You can use any type of bread. Make it a pretty platter by mixing different colors and textures of bread like pumpernickel and whole grain bread. Here are some filling ideas. Don't forget the pb&j if you are allowing children to come!

Barb's Famous "Or-So" Crock-pot Meatballs

Use enough frozen mini meatballs to fill your medium to large size crock-pot 3/4 full. Dump them into the crock-pot. Add 1 can Pineapple chunks(juice included), 1 medium jar maraschino cherries (juice included), 1/4 cup "or-so" Worcestershire sauce, ketchup & mustard. Then add about a cup "or-so" of brown sugar. Fill the rest of the crock-pot with water and let it simmer for about 4 hours "or-so".

Chicken the Good Way
Family size package of chicken on bone or use wings or drumsticks
Onion soup mix
Apricot preserves
Catalina Dressing (can use Fat free)

Take chicken on the bone, clean & remove skin. Mix the packet of onion soup mix, 3/4 jar of apricot preserves & 1 small bottle Catalina dressing in bottom of pan. Coat chicken in the mixture & put in oven for 1 hour 15 minutes on 350 degrees. Coat the chicken with mixture every 15 minutes. Mixture will make a nice dressing on chicken. It will turn to a nice glaze on chicken once it is almost done (should bubble & brown a little).
