Baby
shower decorations can be simple or extravagant. You can find
inexpensive ways to decorate or you can go all out. Spend lots
of time making and planning the perfect decorations or order a
themed kit. What ever you choose to do, we are here to help. We
have come up with this list of baby shower decor ideas to
inspire your creativity.
Elegant Baby Shower Decorations
Elegant decorations are simple and well thought out. They
don't usually include a character or cutesy graphics. Here are
some elegant baby shower decorating ideas.
Stick with a soft theme of only one or two colors. Try pink
or lavender and white for girls, baby blue and cream for boys or
light green and soft yellow for a gender neutral shower. Simple
patterns like plaids or polka dots can be fun, yet undemanding.
Candles set a soft and stylish effect for a baby shower.
A fresh vase of color coordinated flowers add a special touch
and give mom-to-be a nice surprise to take home.
Silver adds a very elegant touch to a soft color scheme. Try
using real silverware or displaying pictures of the mom & dad to
be or a sonogram picture in silver frames.
Diaper Napkins
If you are throwing
a fancier shower, arrange the table ahead of time. Use cloth
diapers as napkins. You could even add a couple of diaper pins
to each "napkin". After, the mom can use them as diapers or
burping pads.
Classic Baby Shower Decorations
Classic is always a hit! Pink or blue baby shower decorations
can be found just about anywhere.
Pacifier Balloons
Take any light
colored balloon (ie: baby blue, pastel pink, or white).
Carefully spread the mouth open and squeeze a pacifier through
the opening. When you blow up the balloons, you can see the
pacifier inside. They make the cutest decorations and the mom
can keep the pacifiers.
Mini Candles
Empty a jar of baby
food and remove the label. Then, put a votive of your choice
inside the jar. Place 2 or 3 at each table.
Party Bottles
Buy baby confetti at
any party store. The confetti usually has baby shapes such as
pacifiers, safety pins, bottles, and rubber ducks. Fill baby
bottles with the confetti and place in strategic areas all over
the room (ie: gift table, food table).
Gift Basket Centerpiece
You can
make a beautiful centerpiece out of a basket filled with baby
shampoo, baby lotion, washcloths, and a rubber duck.
Diaper Banner
Hang a clothesline
from one wall to another. Secure diapers to the clothesline with
clothespins. Then, spell "Welcome Baby Boy", "Welcome Baby
Girl", or "Welcome Mommy" on the diapers. Each diaper should
represent one letter.
Hang the Clothes Out to Dry
This
idea takes a bit of planning. At the very beginning of the
shower, give each guest a onesie and some puff paint. Have her
decorate her onesie as she wishes. Then, hang the onesies on a
clothesline inside to dry. This serves three purposes: a fun
game, unique decoration, and clothes for the baby.
Gift Bassinet
Every baby shower
needs a place to put gifts. Put a bassinet in the corner of the
room. As the guests arrive, have them place their gift in the
bassinet. As the bassinet gets full, put gifts all around. it
will look as though the bassinet is overflowing with gifts. It's
a great look.
Color Coordinated Gifts
The
hostesses can decide together to color coordinate their wrapping
paper. For instance, each could have a different shade of
purple, or blue. Then, the packages can be placed neatly
together with a giant ribbon and bow. These gifts can be the
centerpiece at the head table.
Table Dump Trucks
If the shower is
being thrown for a little boy, place little toy dump trucks on
the tables. Fill the dump buckets with baby confetti and have
them spilling out onto the table.
Fairy Tale Decoration
If the shower
is for a little girl, find a bunch of fairy tale books and
arrange them as centerpieces on the tables. They can be placed
upright and half open, or stacked off center from one another.
The Mommy Throne
Designate one
chair to be the mommy's chair. Decorate it with streamers (pink
or blue, or both) and tie helium balloons to the back. It should
resemble a party throne. This is the chair the mommy can sit to
eat and open presents.
Blanket Table Cloth
Purchase some
inexpensive receiving blankets and use them as table clothes.
The great thing about blankets is that they come with cute
designs.
Bottle Vases
Use bottles as vases
and fill with any flower of your choice. Roses, carnations, and
baby's breath look precious. Flowers are a must at a baby
shower.
Ducks in the Punch
Place rubber
ducks or bath toys in the punch bowl. Not only are they
adorable, but the new family can use them when the baby arrives.
